Deciding where you want to hold your wedding is one of the biggest decisions you have to make. Everyone dreams of having a beautiful destination wedding, but a destination wedding is only practical and feasible for some couples.

Does a Destination Wedding Suit Your Budget?

A destination wedding is in many cases much more expensive than a wedding held near your home. You will have a much harder time trying to plan the details, because you may not be able to visit the local vendors and locations for your wedding and reception.

Because this is so difficult to plan, you may have to visit the location months before the wedding to secure the details and check out the location. If you’re not able to that, then you will have to hire a wedding planner who specializes in destination weddings, who has both the expertise and the contacts to plan things out for you.

You cannot forget about the other extra costs such as airfare. In some cases, you may have to pay for some of your major wedding party guests if they cannot afford to attend themselves. You wouldn’t want a wedding to exclude your closest family or your maid of honor, just because they could not afford to attend.

Consider Your Guests

While your wedding is your event to enjoy, you don’t want to place a hardship on a majority of your guests. If you think that a destination wedding is going to be too much for most of your guests to afford, then you may want to consider your other options. After all, you can always visit your dream destination on your honeymoon. Consider how you would feel if many of your guests decided they couldn’t attend, and whether you think that they would actually go if the wedding was held closer to home.

As much as your wedding is all about you and your fiancé, consider the fact that your destination wedding isn’t just something that only the two of you will have to pay for. Only choose a destination wedding if it is right for you and a majority of your guests.
