Choosing the Right Reception Location

Your dress isn’t the only important aspect of your wedding day. Your wedding reception location is vital as well.  Consider these tips in order to choose the best reception location.

As if planning your actual wedding isn’t hard enough, now you are stressed over choosing the right reception location. Your wedding day will stay with you forever, so you want it to be as perfect as possible, and this includes your reception. There are a number of things you need to consider when choosing the right reception location, including whether or not the location will fit well with your wedding theme. You also have to make sure it will suit your budget, and that you meet the special policies of your chosen venue.

First things first. You need to determine your budget.  You simply can’t go hunting for the perfect reception venue if you aren’t even sure how much money you have to spend. Consider whether or not you’ll have to purchase or rent things like tables, chairs, or even a dance floor. Oh, and you can’t forget the food, of course! Will you or a family member cook the food? Or will you hire a caterer?

Choosing the right reception location also has a lot to do with the number of guests that will be attending. Many reception locations can only hold up to 50 individuals, especially in smaller cities, while many other venues in larger cities can hold up to 150 or more. An outside location really doesn’t have too much of a limit as far as the number of guests go, although there can be land use restrictions. Regardless, the size of your guest list is a huge factor in determining your reception location.

Once you’ve determined your budget and the size of your guest list, the next step in choosing the right reception location is deciding whether or not the location will fit in with your wedding theme. If you have a traditional theme, then you may not want to have your reception at a modern venue, since it could potentially clash. Also make sure that the lighting is to your liking, and that the carpeting or flooring is going to go well with your colors and schemes. All of these things are important when choosing the right reception location, so be sure to consider everything before placing your deposit on the venue.
